Humana People to People started its activities in South Africa in 1995 under the name "Development Aid from People to People in South Africa" which was later changed to Humana People to People in South Africa, currently operating in five provinces.

Various donors and partners participated in the event through presenting speeches on the experience of working together with HPP South Africa in the common goal of combating poverty, HIV & AIDS and working towards development.

To the unassuming eye, spotting tents stationed at the side of the road in the Ehlanzeni and Mopani District communities where Humana’s TCE and HOPE Humana programmes are active creates a peculiar sight.

In 2010, Humana People to People in South Africa starts two new projects called Humana Youth in Action in the West District Municipality.

The work of the Care Givers is much appreciated by the communities who believe that the door-to-door program fills a big gap in service delivery, in distributing food parcels, caring for OVCs and for sick people.

The role played by HOPE Humana in our communities is highly appreciated and has been an eye opener to lots of people including community leaders.

Sometimes community members may not respond to the information that TCE conveys to them immediately. However, the mere fact that Field Officers and Passionates interact with community members and actively participate in the community makes them the first point of reference when individuals are ready to face the reality of HIV and AIDS in their own lives

12th May 2010 was no ordinary day for Humana People to Peiple in South Africa but a celebration event to commemorate its 15th Anniversary.

Ernest Ramabokela is one of Humana People to People delegates who attended the TB conference in Durban. Mr. Ramabokela highlighted on his report that after attending the conference he sees a big gap in TB work that Humana People to People can fill.

Humana People to People in South Africa wishes to work with government and invite other stakeholders inside and outside SA to join hands in the continued fight to improve conditions for the poor and the disadvantaged.

How Humana People to People has grown from second hand Clothes Collection to establishing Partnerships with governments, companies and donor agencies in and outside South Africa, all for the development and upliftment of disadvantaged communiites.

Humana empowers its staff members in every way possible, TCE staff members attended a 6 days workshop at Kwa-Zulu Natal Experimental College.

Humana People to People in South Africa believes that Child Aid is good model to address some of the challenges South African communities are faced with.

"Before TCE our people were lost when it comes to HIV and AIDS. People were not testing and were not disclosing their status." Says Councilor Mohlala

The newly started HOPE Bushbuckridge, a project that empowers and supports the community through HIV Education and mobilization was given the permission to proceed with its activities by the local authorities in Bushbuckridge area.
