Welcome to Humana People to People in South AfricaHumana People to People started its activities in South Africa in 1995 under the name "Development Aid from People to People in South Africa" which was later changed to Humana People to People in South Africa, currently operating in five provinces. Humana People to People in South Africa was established in 1995. It is registered as a Section 21 Company (95 04741) and as a Non-Profit organisation (005-055-NPO). A handful of people had the task to sow the first seeds of HPP's work in the new republic. At that time the members of the International Humana People to People Movement had already been active in neighbouring countries for more than a decade and gained wide recognition.
As in most beginnings, it took sometime to find foohold. The first development project was establishd in Doornkop Soweto in 1998, and from there another after another. Today, Humana People to People in South Africa is active in five provinces and is reaching out to and involving thousands of South Africans in taking development into their own hands. HPP-SA is part of the International Humana People to People Movement, which today is present in 40 countries worldwide, where national member associations operate more than 225 projects reaching 7.5 million people within areas of basic health, HIV&AIDS, education, agriculture, environment, relief aid and community development. Its work is based on the Solidarity Humanism, man standing shoulder with mankind in order to change lives for the better.
We believe that development is about skills sharing and cooperation, nobody is so good that he can leave out another. The Haves must share with the Have-nots, whether it be material goods, money or skills. We are a People to People Movement, which also the name Humana People to People indicates.
