Grooming young women and girls to be better

My name is Dephney Mokhomole and I work as a Sub District Coordinator for Bushbuckridge under the community response program in Ehlanzeni District.  As a young South African, I am hopeful that our country can rise above the past. Youth month is a celebration of the potential and power of our youth to create a positive influence and shape our country's future. During the month of June, our project reached 1,374 young women with HIV prevention messages and ways on how to fight against sexual gender-based violence in our communities. 169 young women tested for HIV and 159 were enrolled on prep to reduce the HIV incidences. The project is also empowering these young women with skills they can use to better their future. 1,374 young women were referred to FHI360 for academic support, financial literary, and entrepreneurial skills.
